Good Ride

Lyric and I had a lovely ride today. The weather was threatening all day but despite the weather channel saying it was going to be raining all day, it never really did. We maybe got a tiny bit of a misting at the very end of my ride with Lyric and then when the trick or treaters were about to come around on the hay wagon, it drizzled lightly for about 10 minutes. Pathetic. Ha ha. But I am glad I got to ride. I rode Funny this morning at Ashland and when I got back I was starving. And the weather was looking like it might actually rain, so I decided to take a chance and make mac-n-cheese. If I got rained out, so be it. I was hungry! Luckily the weather held and it was just as threatening looking but not actually raining as before lunch, so.. I went for it.

We had a good ride. She started out quite lovely!! Even going to the left. She's much more soft in her bend now and I've figured out how to help her with my position. If I post to the outside and especially if I guide her right shoulder around to the inside, she goes very happily. I do have to sometimes counter bend her or let her get a little straight, but overall, it's been so much better!! We did some big circles, then a medium circle and then some small circles. Though I was giggling that our small circle was probably still a 15 meter circle. Maybe that's why she's bending better. Ha ha.

Our canter felt heavy again today. Earthbound. But it wasn't chaotic at least. And it got a little softer at the end. She's probably rounder than Funny at the canter but she definitely feels "heavier" in it than Funny. But we played with the transitions and did some smaller circles and got some nice work. I almost quit there but then decided to do a little more. She unraveled a tiny bit at the trot but then I was able to get her soft again so we finished on a good note. It didn't take long to get her "re-raveled" again. She's such a willing girl.

She did struggle with losing her hind end a good bit today. I'm not sure if it's fitness... being near the end of the shoeing cycle (although we're still two weeks out), or just... she really needs her stifles injected or fenestrated??

We headed in as it was starting to mist heavily, but then of course it quit. Oh well. She was a good girl and didn't need to work more anyways.
