Quicky

We had the farrier this morning and then I had a lesson with Funny at 12:30 at Barbaras, and then plans to ride Dan with Sharon after my lesson. So, since we finished at 10 ish with the farrier and I didn't have to leave til 11:30 for my lesson, I decided it was worth hopping on Lyric for a quick ride. Otherwise, I'd likely run out of time this afternoon after Dan and/or we'd get rained out. And tomorrow I have my nephews graduation party, so may not be able to ride them all. And then Sunday we're going to Aiken to horse show, so... unlikely I'll ride then. Then on Monday, while I have the day off for the holiday, that's Mike's day. So... it was worth the quick ride.

It was hot and steamy though... the humidity... we really need the rain, so.. come on and rain already! I tacked up and then we walked up to the arena. I did a tiny bit of reinback, turn on the haunches and forehand and then we jogged in hand. Then I hopped on. We did some leg yield, some shoulder in, some haunches in, and some backing. Backing is still very hard for her under saddle! Haunches in was hard to the left. She does not want to move her butt to the left and not invert. So.. is it her not wanting to load her right hind? Is it her not wanting to bend her caudal lumbars? Is it her not wanting to open her right rib cage? I don't know.... I had put the half pad on because I felt like her saddle was sitting a little low once we started riding. It's hard to say.. she felt about the same today.. maybe a little quicker and more rushed feeling. Like, more forward, but maybe not in a good way. But she wasn't bad.

We did some trotting, some circles working on bend, some leg yields, some single slalom's, and the transitions. We even did some shoulder in sitting trot. And she wasn't bad. We cantered too. Twice each way. No bucking today. And her canter felt better. Then she was a bit quick in the trot after but I was able to get her settled. We finished with a lovely stretchy trot. And I was just finishing that trot and going to call it when our alarm went off. Time's up! We've got to make sure we have enough time to untack, cool off, and then grab a sandwich and load Funny up.

We hacked back and she got a nice rinse off. Good pony. And i made it to my lesson on time!
