Snow day

SNOW DAY!! 
If you could call it that. ;) I mean.. it did snow. It started about 8 am and snowed very lighty fluffy dry flakes for about an hour or so... then stopped. And it was bitter cold! Then the winds picked up and started blowing the snow around and then it started up again and snowed for multiple hours. It was enough to cover parts of the ground but not enough to cover the pastures. Not like last year! At least not here... Kelli got a ton, as did Liz. And man was it COLD!! So cold! I think the wind chill was 5 degrees at the lowest! BRRR.. I did lock them in for a few hours to let them drink some water because their trough kept freezing over and based on the lack of hoofprints near the heated water, they weren't drinking that. I figured if i put them in their stalls with hay and the heated water buckets maybe they would drink. So they stayed in for about 4 hours. And meh... they maybe drank a tiny bit. But as soon as I turned them out, Lyric marched right up to the trough, waited for me to break the ice and then drank a big long gulp. Okay dear... as you wish! I tried. Ha ha! 

 
I was pretty much only outside to check ponies and toss more hay and offer water. But they seemed fine. It wasn't enough snow to even play in it.

Well damn... just damn....

  Sigh... I want to cry. I did cry. Sigh... my poor beautiful girl.  We had the saddle fitter come today to assess the disaster dressage saddle. It's not the original fitter but someone she recommended who was traveling past us to go to her other clients. So yay! Maybe I can finally decide one way or another with this saddle. But nope...  Since she was coming I had her check the other saddles and horses too. And Kelli came and brought Marvin. She looked at Lyric and thought that the dressage saddle fit her pretty decently, it just needed flocking because the wool was completely squashed and not much in there. She was going to flock it and have me ride in it but then I mentioned that I was also using it on Funny and wanted her to check it on her first. She did mention she wanted me to try riding her in it to see it. I told her about the rehab stuff and lameness but then honestly, I sort of thought it might be worth seeing how she felt, especially given the vet visit tomorr...

Sadness

More lunging... and cute photos

 Honestly, with having 3 pony blogs now, I can't remember if I posted the fun photos or not. So sorry if it's a repeat! Today was a gorgeous day despite it raining hard all night and in the early morning. I had a lesson with Dan and was hoping to come back and ride but ended up cleaning the house and hanging with Mike. I probably could have snuck one in this early evening but decided not to. Mostly just because I was trying to be a good wife and I think I'll get ample opportunities this week. And honestly, not because the winds were howling. I don't think Lyric would have cared. But it was quite gusty!    But, I did lunge her. Because... she needs it. I think it's going to be a very helpful tool in building up her topline and muscling and teaching her how to soften and relax. And she's getting it!!
