We rode!!!
A proper ride! A not rushed ride. Well, not quite as long as I would have liked, but... long enough!
We headed over to Ashland today and she is definitely still in heat and Marvin is hot stuff! I had Kelli look at the loxley saddle on her and she really thought it fit her kind of perfect. I kind of agree. So, I just rode in that today. And.. I kind of like it. Without the half pad. I did her pillar work and turn on the haunches and forehand and then we jogged a lap around the arena. And then I got on. We warmed up at the walk and then Kelli wanted me to watch Marvin go to compare what he looked like vs yesterday. So we hung out and watched her ride. Then when she was done we rode and she took some videos for the saddle fitter to see.
Lyric was pretty good. She was a bit crooked to the right... not wanting to bend around my left leg, but.. I know I'm crooked. But we had a pretty darn good ride. She maybe felt a tiny bit off... well... she sounded a tiny bit off. It sounded like one leg was hitting harder than the other. Which, might have just been foot soreness from the missing shoe and/or riding in the scoot boot yesterday. Kelli didn't see anything. She did lose her hind end really badly once, but only once. Well, she lost it a few times but only badly once. She wasn't really through but she was closer for more of the ride today. And I was even able to do a little bit of sitting trot without her being too fussy. And our canter was kind of nice today. And we got a nice leg yield both way at the end without her bracing and hollowing. So.. yay! We quit with that and then headed out on the trails.
She was a bit putzy on the trails but still in heat. She did have fun splashing in the lake (yay!). And then we just had a nice hack around the lake and then Marvin wanted to go up to stadium so we went there and then headed back to the trailers. I had to head in so I could go to the lake but it was so lovely out I wished we could have hacked longer. There was a nice breeze today and it was pleasant enough in the woods.
