I just want to ride!!!!

So... I rode Funny this morning at home and.. found Lyrics shoe. IN THE ARENA. I guess when she tripped, it was more of her stepping on her shoe and ripping it off than tripping. I'm surprised I didn't see it as we went around. But I guess it was starting to rain and.. yay, maybe I wasn't looking down at the ground! Ha.

Regardless... Patrick was supposed to come Friday but Kelli and I had planned to ride together today and I really wanted her opinion on the loxley saddle. So.. I decided... screw it.. Kelli and Marvin wouldn't ride long anyways... I have a scoot boot... let's just give it a go. So we hauled over and I put her scoot boot on. And then got a text...Patrick texted me asking if I could be home and available in about 1.5 hours. Sigh.... yes... I should have told him to come to Ashland as it might have been closer for him but Lyrics shoe... was still at home. I had actually had it at the trailer initially because I untacked Funny but then... I moved it to the barn so I would have it when Patrick came Friday. Argh. Oh well. I'm just grateful he's willing to come... again.... when he's coming next week (literally 7 days from now) and also that I don't have to wait til tomorrow and potentially screw up my lake day with mike. So... yes sir I will absolutely get home on time.

So... I tacked up in the loxley and Kelli and I headed to the arena. Lyric kept desperately trying to nuzzle Marvin, but I'm not sure Marvin was ready to reciprocate. Plus, we're on a mission girl... keep it moving. Kelli and I both did our little bit of groundwork and then I got on and got to work fairly quick so Kelli could watch. And... she sort of confused me more. Ha ha. Not really... But she said that she thought it actually stacked me quite nicely and that I looked like I was sitting... actually sitting in the saddle. She did say that it did push my lower leg far back.. especially my right leg. Yes... but that may not be the saddle... Cindy Thaxton used to always tell me to get my right leg out of Fleck's stifle.. and then Dan's stifle... so that's an old ingrained bad habit. And... without the half pad, I did feel like I liked it better. So... I don't know. She said there was a LOT of things she liked about it... but could also see where it was maybe not the perfect fit. I then dropped my stirrups a hole to see and she said it almost made my leg being back worse... so.. maybe not that length then.

So then we hiked back to the trailer and I put her black baroque on Lyric. And... I felt so loose and sloppy! And now, (which I don't think I noticed/appreciated before) I felt like I was sitting back on my pockets... Like in a good way but.. maybe not in a good way. Kelli said that I now looked looser in my belly, like I was having to work at "zipping up my core". Although once she pointed it out, it got better. She said I looked more perched in this saddle. interesting... very interesting. Maybe because I felt more rocked back in my butt, it was causing me to tip forward to counterbalance. Oh, that's the other thing. I do feel like I was snug up against the pommel, in the sweet spot, in the loxley... vs not quite as much in this one, despite this one being a much smaller seat. Then I had to get back home, so I didn't ride very long and then watched Kelli and Marvin briefly.

Then I hosed Lyric off super quick and we headed home. I was 12 minutes early but Patrick still beat me. Dang it! But.. she got her shoe back on and he tightened some of the others... we didn't have Dan's shoe that he lost but an old one he had lost so he put that back on. And we checked Funny and tigthened a few of her clenches. Ha ha. If anything happens, I am NOT calling him... they can just wait til Thursday. Or I'll put the scoot boot on.

But yeah.. so I don't know. I'm not sure if I've just gotten used to the positioning on the loxley and now don't feel as happy in the black baroque? Or... if I actually like the black baroque better and just.. need to get back to being used to it. Or.. if neither of them are a great fit for me. Or ... what!!!

So... I am leaning towards calling Nancy out and having her check us in this one, maybe even in Kelli's and then ride in whatever she has that might work to see if I can find the magic saddle. I just... really can't afford another saddle, especially if I can't sell my other ones soon. But... I also really prefer a dressage saddle for flat work rather than trying to ride in my jump saddle all the time. So... I don't know. I guess I'll see what Amanda says when I tell her my thoughts about the loxley... take the loxley and the black baroque to my lesson and see what Kelly thinks... and then on Monday text Nancy to see when she could come out.

Oh, and then as we were done... Lyric peed... twice. And then was nuzzling Marvin and nibbling his chin. So... definitely in heat!
