Worked Lyric today. Did pillars and turn on haunches and forehand in arena. She's a pro now. Then lunged over trot poles. She is terrible at them! Either... just a complete clutz with no clue, or neurologic. Tripped and scrambled and rolled her ankle. But then also fine when she hits it just right. 

Then lunged the second set of 5 minutes in the pasture. Lazy. But then second direction she took off and got loose and galloped back to the others. Let me catch her easily and we went back to lunging. She tried to squirt off again but I held her and she clipped her coronary band on her left hind... held it up in the air for a bit. But then sound... just stung herself. Well, more than stung... she sliced it pretty good and it bled a fair amount. But stayed sound. 

Went back to arena and made reins with the leadrope and hopped on. A bit nervous but not too bad and no rooting or lip thing. Walked around and gave her a few cookies. Then trotted. At first she was a bit fussy but then she settled out of it pretty quickly. Super short trot because OW that wither!! but... SOOOOO much sounder!! Just trotted a tiny bit. Then gave her cookies and then decided to be brave and ride her back to the barn. She was super! we did the gate and she closed it with her nose (almost) and then walked politely home the whole way. I did trot about 4-10 steps near the barn and she wasn't fussy and felt pretty good. YAY!! Thank you God!!

Let her graze while I got supplies then hosed off her boo boo and wrapped it. Hopefully it won't be too sore.

So... shoulder girdle injections kicking in? previcox long enough? God!?

  And today was a better day. I still was sad and even cried this morning, mostly because of hormones. But... Dr. DeClue called me as I was pulling into Barrows for my vet appt. She told me not to worry about working up the lameness, but to hold steady. She said that the shockwave changes how things feel and that's probably why she looked worse yesterday. And she said that she needed her neck facets done. And then I was like "Can I bring her to you again?" and she said yes. Phew. So, she'll send me dates soon. So that helped. Just... stay the course Holly. And then I adore Dr. Barrow too. I basically told her the whole story and she listened and didn't blow me off. She didn't dismiss anything and she was smart and had good ideas! We checked her front feet with hoof testers and she was negative so she didn't think it was her feet. Well.... progress and then a standstill

  Today was supposed to be XC schooling in Aiken but the other 9 riders bailed, so... Jacel opted to just school XC at Ashland. Which, with this heat and humidity, probably a better call than hauling for 4 hours. And it worked out well because I ended up getting someone to come spray my pastures for army worms today vs Mon or Tues, so.. hopefully this will save my pastures! Especially since it was not cheap. Sigh. But because I was at Ashland I was able to meet him and lock ponies up while he sprayed.  So, we met up and rode with Julia and Laura. Yay! I hadn't ridden with Laura in eons it felt like. And we rode at 10, so... still hot but maybe not as humid? I don't know... regardless we were all literally dripping sweat and puffing. Laura couldn't even wear her glasses they kept fogging up and then she said "I think even my eyeballs are fogging up". Hee hee. It was bad. But like... it's been bad. I'm so over it. Chill girl at the Tik clinic

  I'm so proud of Lyric. And a little bit of me too.  Lyric and I went to the Tik Maynard clinic today at Pascova Farm. Bless her because my dumb self didn't pay attention that the start time had moved up 30 minutes until after I woke up this morning. I had wanted to get there to listen to the first lecture and watch the first group of groundwork but more importantly, Allisa told me I could park in the barn area and put her in a stall for the day so I had to get there before everyone else so I could get the trailer in before people started parking and clogging up the area. And of course, on Thursday I didn't feel like getting gas on my way home because it was hot and figured I'd do it later, forgetting I was going to have to get up early to go to the clinic. So this morning after I woke up and was getting ready I realized I was going to be running late.
