Homework and homework
Today Lyric and I did arena work. We did our pillar homework and then I added alittle bit of baby lunging to see. She's still not ready. I mean, she's lunging better, but she's still not relaxing in pillar 1 while lunging. I can almost get it at the walk though, so progress. We had some good work though.
Then we headed back to the barn and practiced trailer loading. She's getting much better about it. There was no separation anxiety tension today and she was much braver about getting her front feet on. She even got the hind feet on the ramp some today, so yay! We quit when we ran out of treats. :)
Then I adjusted her. She was mostly good although she had a moment of panic. Jean was walking in her pasture and her dogs were out and the mare was running and Lyric about lost her mind. It was unfortunately, right as I had unclipped her to adjust her head and neck. Or maybe fortunately as maybe she would have flipped. But she kept trying to spin and go the other way and tried to get back to Fleck, who was literally in the stall next to her, just slightly behind her. But, I was able to get her to not run over me or bolt and then she sort of settled. And then she finally settled and then she was fine again.
After her adjustment I wanted to try taping her so I went inside and grabbed my anatomy books to refresh my brain on origin and insertions so I could tape properly. She got super antsy and was dancing around and then had thrown her butt into the shelf. I was asking her to move over and she wouldn't so after a few pushes, I softly slapped her. She double barreled at me! OH NO!!! Naughty! Unfortunately I missed my window to spank her for that as I had jumped out of the way, but I did loudly scold her verbally. Gracious girl! I did manage to get her taped and then turned her out and she immediately peed. Ha! Maybe that's why she was antsy. Thanks for not peeing in the aisle.
Of course by the time I fed and tossed hay, the tape was already loose. Dangit! Sigh.
Oh well. Baby steps again. She will get lots of bemering in the near future. Dan got it tonight though.
