New Kicks!
Today was a fun day! I worked Lyric in the arena. Funny went first and then Lyric. She was again a little upset at leaving the herd but not too bad. And it helped that Dan and then the others came up towards the arena to keep her company. We didn't have much time at all, so we just did some pillar 1 and 2s and one or two pillar 3's. And then I trotted in hand with her some. She's quick! ha ha. But we got some nice relaxed work. Then we did pillar 1 on the hill to stretch her psoas out.
Then she got new shoes! Sara came and put composites on her and rubber shoes. She got rubber shoes up front and composites (mostly rubber, some metal) with a wedge in the backs. Then she got casted on all 4 to help keep them on. They look comfy! Lyric was pretty good for it all, although she did poop on Sara! OOOPS! I probably should have tipped her. Doh! I did pay cash and give her a soda though, so.. hopefully that helps. Hee hee. The goal though is to do a few rounds of these composites/rubber glue on shoes and then have her go barefoot from then on. Fingers crossed it works. But she seems happy so far. It was hard to tell as I was feeding as soon as she left and then we went to dinner as we were starving!
BUT.... that means that I can ride her now, vs waiting til the 24th! (Which is when I thought Sara was coming). My plan is to work her with Meg tomorrow to see if we can get a little bit more releasing. And then give her Wednesday off. And then ride Thursday. Kelli is going to come be my moral support/photographer and potentially pick me up off the ground person. ;) Hee hee. I doubt that. I think she'll be a good girl.
I'm hoping she likes her rubber boots. They look comfy that's for sure and she seemed a bit happier maybe. And a bit less cowhocked (sickle hocked.. whichever one it is).
Last night was a full moon and Dan was being a little weird about eating dinner and I noticed Lyric had found the tiny apples tree and was munching, so... before bed I went to do a bed check. Everyone was good. Lyric was fascinated by my phone and wouldn't keep her nose out of it, so we did full moon selfies instead of full moon body shots. :)
