First Day Home

Yahooo!!! I'm off to go get the mare! Aubrey said she was a PIG in her stall! ha ha. Dangit! She turned her out in the roundpen for a bit before I came to get her. And she wallowed! So we hosed her off. Even her face. And she was good and pretty much just stood there. Good girl.             And then I let Aubrey teach me. Because I don't know much about racehorses. At all. She said that when you are leading them, you don't pull. Because pulling invitest them to pull back against you. But also make sure they aren't behind you and instead are next to you. If they are behind you they have an excuse to run into you because you will save them from danger. And if they start getting quick and pulling you, you make it clear that that is NOT ALLOWED and then go back to soft and neutral. And that's how you teach them to lead on a soft rope. So I went to load her on the trailer and of course she stopped and said no. So then Aubrey grabbed her and she walked right...

She's on her way

So Lyric is on her way! Aubrey sent me these photos of her getting ready to load. Those big ol' ears!!! That big ol' head! I'm exited! Aubrey said she loaded super and hauled great. She said she was the quietest of the 3 and drank well. They made it home and she stayed at Aubreys overnight. Aubrey said she was a little spicy but not bad.

I did a thing

I gave in to peer pressure. :) I have been contemplating doing the RRP for years. Ever since I rode that one off the track thoroughbred back at pounds stables in high school. That horse just had power! You could feel it in there but there was no tension, no explosiveness. You asked, you received! But you could feel the potential of the power! It was such a cool feel! So I've always wanted that! But, ... then I got into spotties, so...  But then Dan was on stall rest... and Funny is a baby... and I have friends with thoroughbreds. And they are enablers. It started with "Why don't you just take a lesson on one of Aubrey's TB's?" and progressed to "You could lease one"! to... "Just buy your own!". And.. at first I was like "no... Dan will be back soon". And I don't ne...
