Still spicy and more humid

Today was even more humid! Ugh... and threatening rain all day. But at least there was some cloud cover.  By the time I got around to riding Lyric, it was probably close to 11:30. So we rode at home. Which was totally fine.

They were in the far field so I trekked out there. And when I was getting Lyric her cookies and had just gotten the halter over her head Dan bit her hard and so she spooked and then spun and tried to kick him. And she ripped the lead line across my elbow. No Ma'am!!! And No Sir! Not when I am right here! Unfortunately, Lyric got in more trouble than Dan because she was attached to me. She had a nice little chomp mark though. Oops. Sorry girl! But still... I am right here!

So then she was all sassy and up and snorty. Luckily she was fine walking back without any antics despite her feeling like she might. We managed to just get through the gate when Dan and Funny came thundering up and slid to a halt just in front of the gate. Really dude?? But she was a good girl. So we went to tack up and she was sticy but not sweating yet at least. I did a quick groom and we headed up to the arena in hand. We did one stint of backing up and then jogged a lap and then I got on.

I do think I probably need to put the half pad with front shims on as my saddle feels like it's setting a little bit low. But she was pretty good today. Better than Sunday at least. The canter felt more normal and less downhill. Our transitions were still a little runny into the canter, but the downs were decent. Her trot was pretty good. We had some bracing still but less than Sunday. She was more willing to be soft today and we even got some nice bend both directions. She was hanging on me a little bit today so I tried to be softer but not let her pull me forward. And it kind of worked. I mostly kept a good solid hold of her today... helped support her. But we also did a few circles or laps of "you carry yourself". And she was happy to do that, although she was very long and low with it. But, to me at least, she didn't feel on the forehand. But ... what do I know?

We finished with a lovely trot both ways, including tracking left which is the hard way. And she even had nice bend without the head tilt! Yay! And she only lost her hind end hard two or three times today. But she did feel a bit more ... neuro again. It's like she has to take a minute to get her legs all where they belong and doing what she tells them to do. Weird...

She got a nice bath but was still so warm. It's just soooo humid and muggy today. Ugh. But she was fine.  Fine enough that later that evening when Judy and Kirsten showed up to ride with me and we walked up the driveway to the arena... the girls came galloping, screaming, and bucking up to the fenceline. ;)
