Trying the PH again

So... the saddle fitter rescheduled us to Saturday. Which is fine, because it meant I got a jump lesson on Funny with Jacel! Yay! So after I got back from that, I grabbed Lyric and tacked her up. I decided that I would try the Peter Horrobin on her because... I needed to see if I still liked it and how she felt about it before I decide whether to keep it or sell it. Assuming it fits. But... I felt like it fit well enough to try because Kim had said that depending on what her topline and body did in the month after her last visit, we might not need to tweak it. So I tossed it on her and.. it actually felt like it fit her pretty well. So we gave it a whirl.

We did a little bit of rehab work in the pasture before I got on. We backed up, we did her scapula stretches and we did turn on the forehand and turn on the haunches. And we even backed up the little mole hill by the round pen. Good girl! Then I got on and we walked hills for 10 minutes. Then we went into the arena and did some lateral work at the walk. She was good but still struggling to bend left. She also felt a little bit sluggish again but it's hard to tell after riding Funny. It's like getting on the Ebike after riding on the motorcycle! ha! I tried to just let her be, but... it's hard to make myself not chase her. Then we did our ten minutes of trotting. We did straight lines to start and then did some figure 8's. She lost her hind end a few times. It seems to be when we go from the right bend to the left bend. But I just ignored it and we carried on. We got some nice work. And I didn't feel quite balanced in the saddle today but I don't know how much of it was because my stirrups weren't where they should be, or if it's becaues I was trying to "perch" a little and couldn't in the dressage saddle, or because it's not balanced on her. But it wasn't so bad that I felt like it didn't fit. I just think I need to get used to it again. I didn't hate it. And she seemed pretty happy and comfortable in it. I do think she's happier in this bit. She fussed a little bit but not as bad, so we'll keep riding in it and see.

After our ten minutes we did another hill or two and then headed back. Good pony! She seemed happy enough and not stressed and there were no rub marks on her withers, so that's exciting. I did see some weird rubs on her right wither base after the jump saddle the other day but I don't know if it's the half pad or the back on track pad's design or what. But... yay. I'll probably ride in this again Friday before Kim comes on Saturday just to see what my thoughts on it are.

Good pony!
