Grandma took offense
Rode at home after Jean's lesson. Way easier than hauling twice. Fun grid was set up, but distance was slightly off.
warmed up and told jacel I was worried about her soundness, stifles... she watched us go. I told her she felt... like an old lesson horse... a bit stiff and lazy. She laughed and said maybe she's just growing up... she's got a kind soul and was really only hot cause she was fresh off the track. She's a grandma soul, like Fleck was a grandpa soul. So then she said that she's overtracking decently and actually catching her front foot on her hind foot, thus the tripping/giving out. She's short backed enough that she can "cheat" so... she had me walk, then immediately trot. Like... almost walk. And it got lyric much more engaged and using her hind end and snapping her hocks. and that made her feel much less like a grandma. I still maybe felt some slight head bob when we first tracked right... and she's stiffer going left in the bend. but she did feel better. so... we'll do lots of that and see if we can get her stronger and not "lame-ish" feeling.
Then we started jumping. We started out very small... and I jumped up her neck. Sigh.. I was riding her like she was Funny. So then Jacel told me to get her engaged.. get activity behind. And RIDE THE HOCKS... think of lifting her barrel... so I did. And then she started going well and jumping more out of stride. We still got funky distances at times because... they weren't really set right. But overall, it got way better. and she got her lead changes a good chunk of the time! And I finally figured out how to ride her better and not feel like i'm all over the place. And she got a little feral!! Like... overly excited and was bucking a little and got quick but not in a bad way. She went feral. ;) ha ha.
It was a good lesson though. Then we sat and chatted for a bit. and hacked home. good pony!
