Good Girl
Today was supposed to be a flat lesson with Jacel, but her kid was sick so we postponed til Thursday. I ended up just riding her at home because of timing and not wanting to drive to Ashland again.
We walked up to the arena and then I got off and we straddled the pole. She's pretty darn good at it. I was kind of surprised. So then I got on and we rode. She was a pretty good girl. She's definitely sticky in her stifles or something! She lost her hind end hard a few times and mildy a few times. And then in the right lead canter she picked up the cross canter twice and felt scrambly in the transition. (In fact, when I was riding Funny later I found a shoe at that spot... but it wasn't Lyrics.... So I have no idea how it got there! Ha. Guess it was Dan's from awhile ago.. maybe he flung it from the fence???). But she hasn't had previcox for a few days and felt okay otherwise, so... we'll keep seeing how she does off previcox.
We did some transitions and some small circles. We did some shoulder in and some leg yields. We did some canter work and practiced our transitions. Overall it was a decent ride. But she's definitely sticky behind and she wanted to twist her poll in the shoulder in right. And she felt a little more bracy again today. So.. maybe it is the lack of previcox? I don't know. She's still not consistent in the contact and definitely wants to hang on the inside rein. I'm trying hard to not hang back but... it's a constant battle. She almost felt today like she was falling haunches right instead of haunches left. And she felt like she was falling on her left shoulder instead of her right shoulder. So I did some counterbend to try and straighten her.
We had some good moments too though. We hacked back home and then she got a bath because it's still hot and humid today. Good pony
