Hopeful again

 Thank you God for hope! Glorious Hope!

I did some research and reading and... maybe Lyric's kissing spine isn't the end of the world. Maybe it's manageable. As long as her saddle fits. So... I shockwaved her back Sunday in hopes that I could ride her Monday or today. I am planning to inject it.. I just need to decide what to inject it with and if I'm going to do it or if I want to get Dr. Barrow to do it. And then whether I'll do osphos too or not. But anyways... I was hoping to ride today. But it was not to be. I spent too long playing with Dan and then Funny and Lexi was coming to work on the ponies. 

So, I had 15 minutes to spare, so I put Lyric in the roundpen to do some rehab lunging. Ha ha. Fool was feral! She went bucking, kicking and bouncing around. I did manage to get some time with her in a nice long and low position. Partly because she was trying to chomp the grass and clover the whole time. Ha! We only lunged for about 10 minutes tops, but.. it was still better than nothing. And she at least seems to be feeling better and is willing to go forward again so yay for that!

Lexi worked on her and I didn't tell her anything... and she said she felt stuff in her upper cervicals and then right at the base of her withers. Sigh.. darnit! But again, maybe it's all aggravated because of the darn saddle and I can get her back to how she was before the saddle irritated her. I know the saddle didn't cause the kissing spine and she was doing great prior to the saddle, so.. praying to God that we can get back to that point. Lexi got some great work done and Lyric had lots of good releases. When we were done she was still sitting on the wall though. Sigh... 

Hopefully I can ride on Thursday. I don't think tomorrow is going to happen. I just want to see if the gabapentin and previcox makes a difference... and the shockwave. Obviously she's SOOOO much better just after injecting her shoulder girdle, but I want to see if the fussiness goes away. 

Then I'll figure out injecting her and come up with a more definitive rehab plan.

  Sigh... I want to cry. I did cry. Sigh... my poor beautiful girl.  We had the saddle fitter come today to assess the disaster dressage saddle. It's not the original fitter but someone she recommended who was traveling past us to go to her other clients. So yay! Maybe I can finally decide one way or another with this saddle. But nope...  Since she was coming I had her check the other saddles and horses too. And Kelli came and brought Marvin. She looked at Lyric and thought that the dressage saddle fit her pretty decently, it just needed flocking because the wool was completely squashed and not much in there. She was going to flock it and have me ride in it but then I mentioned that I was also using it on Funny and wanted her to check it on her first. She did mention she wanted me to try riding her in it to see it. I told her about the rehab stuff and lameness but then honestly, I sort of thought it might be worth seeing how she felt, especially given the vet visit tomorr...

Tomorrow is another day

  And today was a better day. I still was sad and even cried this morning, mostly because of hormones. But... Dr. DeClue called me as I was pulling into Barrows for my vet appt. She told me not to worry about working up the lameness, but to hold steady. She said that the shockwave changes how things feel and that's probably why she looked worse yesterday. And she said that she needed her neck facets done. And then I was like "Can I bring her to you again?" and she said yes. Phew. So, she'll send me dates soon. So that helped. Just... stay the course Holly. And then I adore Dr. Barrow too. I basically told her the whole story and she listened and didn't blow me off. She didn't dismiss anything and she was smart and had good ideas! We checked her front feet with hoof testers and she was negative so she didn't think it was her feet. Well.... progress and then a standstill

  Today was supposed to be XC schooling in Aiken but the other 9 riders bailed, so... Jacel opted to just school XC at Ashland. Which, with this heat and humidity, probably a better call than hauling for 4 hours. And it worked out well because I ended up getting someone to come spray my pastures for army worms today vs Mon or Tues, so.. hopefully this will save my pastures! Especially since it was not cheap. Sigh. But because I was at Ashland I was able to meet him and lock ponies up while he sprayed.  So, we met up and rode with Julia and Laura. Yay! I hadn't ridden with Laura in eons it felt like. And we rode at 10, so... still hot but maybe not as humid? I don't know... regardless we were all literally dripping sweat and puffing. Laura couldn't even wear her glasses they kept fogging up and then she said "I think even my eyeballs are fogging up". Hee hee. It was bad. But like... it's been bad. I'm so over it.
