Homework

We rode at home today and had a decent ride. It wasn't nearly as good as our ride in our lesson, but... fair enough. There were other circumstances.

When I caught her Jean's interns were riding in the arena so I figured I may have to share the arena. And sure enough, I did. But no big deal. Except.. it did create some extra stress for Lyric and I did have to ride around them a tiny bit. But no big deal. I'm glad they were willing to share the arena.

I did still do my pillar work and thoracic sling work to warm up. And then I jogged her to loosen her up. Then I hopped on. We did our homework from our lesson... long leg yields (although not quite as long because of the interns riding on one end... they were staying on one end to stay out of my way so I thought it was fair that I stayed out of their end).... leg yields on the wall. She was a bit more twisted today than in our lesson, but I also sort of forget to keep my seat moving and be on the correct seatbone. Once I got that it helped. And I think I was hanging on the left rein too... But we managed to get some decent ones. Then we trotted and I tried to recreate the lovely trot. It was a nice trot. A good trot. But not quite the same caliber. We did trot through the giant X pole and even through the fan. She did better with the fan than I expected! We also leg yielded into and out of the canter. Our canter transitions were MUCH better today than in our lesson, so yay for that. I think I'm better and crisper with my aids now that my brain has realized the bendy button, lateral button and canter button.

We ended with some nice work and some stretching. She felt reluctant to bend left again today and really didn't want to go into the right rein, but we finished with some nice even contact and good left bend, so we quit with that. I'll have to refocus next ride on spending the time it takes to get her even and making sure I'm not pulling or hanging. We hacked home via the pasture and she was such a good girl. Even when Funny came trotting up to us from behind.

Good pony! She got bemered tonight and this morning too.
