Well.... we tried the stubben again. And I'm not sure she actually likes it any better than the Horrobin. And I definitely dislike it for me! She didn't ride any differently although she wasn't as snarly when I put it on. But I'm wondering if that has more to do with the timing of my ulcergard or other things? I guess I'll keep flip flopping and see. I rode at home since I was running short on time.
I did do some pillar work with her and then lunged her first. She was pretty good in the trot so I asked for a little canter. And.. it wasn't nearly as explosive but she definitely isn't loose and stretchy in the canter yet. I'm not quite sure how to show her to stretch down in it other than give it time... ??? So I'll keep playing with it. She did look like she was maybe starting to snag her stifle once or twice while lunging. Darnit...

After a quick lunge I got on and we did our homework at the walk. She was pretty good at it so we went ahead and trotted and cantered without drilling the homework. I did remember the counter bend and it helped. It was a pretty good ride with lots of good moments. But she is still just so fussy. All the time. I have moments of nice but it's never more than a few strides. So.... I don't know. It's frustrating. Is it training? Is it pain? Is it saddle fit? Stifle issues? Bitting issues. I do think this bridle maybe sucks for her so I'm going to try to get her back in her fancy one with the better crown piece.
She also got hung once or twice today. It wasn't as bad as before and she didn't wave her leg in the air, but she did stop and hop a step or two. hmmm... I tried to keep it short. And then we went for a little hack in the pasture and did the hills twice.
Oh Lyric.... now your blanket matches you! Doh!
