Dressage and Hack
Today we went to Ashland to ride with Kelli and Marvin. I lunged first to get her using her back better. She was good and pretty much immediately stretched down and lifted her back, so we didn't lunge for very long. Then we rode. But.. .meh... it wasn't great. We're just struggling on getting her to stay soft and not braced and I can't stop myself from fiddling with her head. sigh. Oh well.
I was hoping to go on a hack after but Kelli couldn't, so.. we went by ourselves. She was a good girl. She got a little stressed because as we went past the lake we saw a tractor and 5 people walking across the lake. So she got a little prancy almost. I decided that we would try crossing the big creek because I really wanted to do some hills. She was prancing/jigging almost so I mentioned casually as we were heading towards the creek that if she crossed the creek we would be heading home and get home sooner than if she didn't... because then we'd have to go the long way home. Dang if that girl didn't march right up to the creek and through it. She didn't even get balky at the turn to the creek where she usually does. She didn't hesitate going down to it (Which.. maybe it was because it was so rocky and before she was foot sore??). I didn't even really have to ask... nor did I have time to get my phone out. She literally just marched right through it... calmly (well, ha... calmly but slightly jiggy) marched right through without even looking at it or hesitating. And she didn't jump it or get all weird. COOL BEANS!
Then we walked up the hill and did a little trot on the flat part and then headed home. Good girl!
