More lunging... and cute photos

Honestly, with having 3 pony blogs now, I can't remember if I posted the fun photos or not. So sorry if it's a repeat! Today was a gorgeous day despite it raining hard all night and in the early morning. I had a lesson with Dan and was hoping to come back and ride but ended up cleaning the house and hanging with Mike. I probably could have snuck one in this early evening but decided not to. Mostly just because I was trying to be a good wife and I think I'll get ample opportunities this week. And honestly, not because the winds were howling. I don't think Lyric would have cared. But it was quite gusty!    But, I did lunge her. Because... she needs it. I think it's going to be a very helpful tool in building up her topline and muscling and teaching her how to soften and relax. And she's getting it!! Today I put her in the roundpen and she just went into a nice lovely trot all soft and relaxed in her topline and neck. Her jugular pulse was even pulsing away. And s

Jump Day!

Today was a crazy day! Ha ha. Poor Lyric. Good thing she's sane. I planned to meet Laura at Ashland for a ride. She wanted to jump, so I decided to take Lyric so I wasn't too tempted with Dan. And guess what?! Lyric literally walked herself onto the trailer this morning! I was still trying to get her lead draped over her neck and didn't have my crop. I was going to get her lined up and ask, but... she just waltzed right in and stood. Okay! Yay! Good girl! So... anyways, we got tacked up and then met Laura at the trailers and headed up to the jump arena. For some reason both ponies were spooky, jumpy, and snorty! Lyric spooked at the caveletti on the way to the jump arena.. and then Kid spooked at the dressage rail at the top of the hill by the arenas. Goobers! But luckily once we got in the arena they both settled down and were good. Lyric walked and trotted and was so chill and relaxed. I was telling Laura that I don't know if it's the way the arena is sized... l

Quick Lunge and she's getting it!

Today was a pretty good day but I could have been more efficient with my time. But it's okay! I managed to buy a few more flowers and get them planted, dropped the scoot boots back off (wasted time as I forgot til I was home and had to go back to where I practically was), and get to the bank. And work! I just only had 5 horses today so it was a half day. But they were an hour away and I stopped to get lunch too. But anyways, when I got home I opted to ride Dan first to check him out as that may alter my plans for tomorrow. He was sound!!! Yay! So then by that point it was 5:30 or so... And I decided that I would lunge both girls rather than try to ride Lyric. I had been sated with Dan's ride and then I was able to ride Lyric Tues and thurs this week so that helped. But anyways... I did Funny first and then it was Lyrics turn. I don't know why but I didn't think to flyspray her first. And the bugs are so bad in the roundpen for some reason. The gnats are just... a lot!

Well now I feel a little better!

Argh.. this weather... Dan's footsore.... I'm cranky... Couldn't ride as much last week and weekend because they both threw shoes...  So... today is my day off... and it's raining. Kind of all day. Argh! I did try to sneak in a ride on Dan and he was still lame, so... I pouted. Of course around 4:45 pm the weather looked like it was maybe going to clear up. I checked the radar and it looked like no rain til about 7ish.  Mike said he didn't care, so I went to go ride Lyric! Luckily she had on her rain sheet with neck so she was pretty dry. She was a little damp at the saddle area but not bad.  She was a bit nervous at the trailer but I managed to get her tacked up and we headed to the arena. We did our pillar walking and then I lunged her. She almost immediately went to a forward, down and out stretch! Yay! It's still not consistent and still barely a stretch and she still is bouncing very close to bracing in her poll, but... it's getting better!    Then I g

Lyrics first show!!

So.... today was the big day. Lyrics first show!!!! Of course she pulled a shoe thursday... and Deb came out to fit her for scoot boots but didn't have her size in stock. So we borrowed from a friend and practiced lunging in them yesterday and she seemed good. So yay! We can still show!  This morning was a bit chilly and when I went to feed... there was shenanigans! It was like Mexican jumping beans from all three youngsters. Hee hee... Get it out now please!!! And she did. As did Funny and Danny. :)  After everyone was fed and had their hay I got dressed and grabbed Lyric and we loaded up and headed to the show. She was a bit nervous at the show in the parking lot but stayed tied to the trailer. And when we first got there she stayed in the trailer while I checked in and used the bathroom. No shenanigans that I could tell. I got her groomed and put her scoot boots on and then went to tack up. She was nervous and kept turning/dancing around. Which meant she kept twisting those hin
