Proud Momma!!!!

Loaded immediately and stood

pawed on ride, worse on the way home

unloaded and was brave despite being alone (no other horses), tractor and trash truck

tacked up and walked to jump arena, walked around and trotted. calm and chill

jacel came

ground poles: she's responsible for her own feet. let her make mistakes and fix them. builds her confidence, walked then trotted

then two cross rails on the 4 strides. trotted to first one but go around second. let her make mistakes. Trotted a few times, then veered right and stopped her.. walked through the pole. jumped the next time. was so proud. then did the second jump but skipped the first. then cantered on landing. soooo proud, almost bucked.

then tried to keep cantering and canter a fence and she said nope.. too quick. she needs time to process. but we don't know if we don't ask. very brave.. did good. trotted and landed in canter twice more and called it quits

then hacked down to see kelli. drug me into arena to see marvin

went for a hack. nervous. no go on the bank til marvin went up it. did the ditch but had to do the baby half ditch and it took about 7 tries before she went through it mostly calm. but progress. loud geese at lake scared her... wouldn't go in or drink. spooked on trail and almost dumped me cause I had feet out of stirrups and she backed out from under me but stayed on and she kept going

chaos while loading but got on within 8 minutes. several attempts, but did it. pawed and rocked the whole way home

Waaaaahhhhhhhh :( Just when she was getting FUN! Kelli and I had scheduled a vet visit with Dr. Marquez for Dan and Marvin. I decided to have him look at Lyric too as I was worried she was still having some issues. She's been fussier lately again and losing her hind end on occasion. Nothing major, but... she's also never had a real true lameness evaluation done. So.. why not!?  I'm really glad I did. The horses were in all day because it was an all day affair. And Marvin was here too, so that added a little bit to her stress. Maybe stress isn't the right word, but her routine was definitely off! And that makes her nervous. We did Marvin's vet visit first, then Dan, and then it was Lyrics turn.  Dr. Marquez started off with a physical exam and palpating her. He noted how knock kneed she was. I know... I know. But she ain't wicked! That would be her brother and sister. Ha!! Teasing... they're just... silly.  Anyways.. we had a lesson today with Kelly Eaton. I felt a little bad that she didn't get the day off, but less bad since we didn't run XC yesterday. Plus... I hate to lose a chance to lesson with Kelly and this month she was only scheduled for 1 day so far. (Plus XC schooling at FENCE but Dan gets to go to that!). So ... yeah. Sorry girl! But you get Monday off. :) And we did dressage instead of jumping.   No lesson photos, but this was after. She's so shiny!! So we worked on some leg yields again today to get her more consistent and even in her connection. We started tracking left and it felt pretty good to me. Kelly kept insisting that I keep her more straight. Then we went the other direction and Kelly said it was better.. she was straighter.
