Tomorrow is another day

And today was a better day. I still was sad and even cried this morning, mostly because of hormones. But... Dr. DeClue called me as I was pulling into Barrows for my vet appt. She told me not to worry about working up the lameness, but to hold steady. She said that the shockwave changes how things feel and that's probably why she looked worse yesterday. And she said that she needed her neck facets done. And then I was like "Can I bring her to you again?" and she said yes. Phew. So, she'll send me dates soon. So that helped. Just... stay the course Holly.

And then I adore Dr. Barrow too. I basically told her the whole story and she listened and didn't blow me off. She didn't dismiss anything and she was smart and had good ideas! We checked her front feet with hoof testers and she was negative so she didn't think it was her feet. She said she agreed that it wouldn't be wrong to do her hocks and stifles because sometimes veterinary medicine is "a diagnosis of deletion".  Ha! That's awesome. And true. And we both agreed that steroids was the way to go vs biologics because we were using it to put out compensatory fires and as some diagnositcs. Eliminate the other factors and see what's left. She did mention that it might be worth checking for PSSM 2 and checking her Vitamin E. She said she looked tight and bunched up and agreed that her topline looked like crap compared to normal. And she also mentioned ulcers. Yep.. yep... yep. We also talked briefly about kissing spine but decided not to go there. Because, she's just hurting everywhere right now. And she's never been really sore over her DSPs. Plus, I'm still following the DeClue theory about how KS is secondary to dysfunctional iliopsoas creating tension in the epaxials, so... it's not going to change anything I do. But basically, it was confirmation that we just need to give the DeClue protocol time to work. And take out some of the fires in the meantime.

So.. Lyric got her hocks and stifles done and then she'll have off until Tuesday. Then I'll put her back on the lunge and see where we're at. And shockwave her again. And then hopefully we'll have a date soon to see Dr. DeClue again and we can get the front end treated so I can stop fretting and feeling awful for her. I'm guessing she'll have to have her back done again but... maybe I can accomplish that this time. I've got my DEA now.. just have to get MWI's paperwork to go through so I can actually order it.

Oh, she did load decently today. She took a minute or two at home and did have a minor freak out but nothing bad. Then on the way home from the clinic she didn't want to move her feet. She just stopped. She may have been still really drunk. So we had to do a few circles to get her feet moving and then I dropped the divider and she went right in. Good girl!

I did start her on the fake ulcergard when I got home, but she may have spit it all out. And then I started the decoquinate and levamisole too. So... fingers crossed!
