Trailer Success!

We "cheated" a little bit today but that's okay. After I rode Dan I put him on the trailer with a full bag of fresh alfalfa and had a fresh bag waiting for Lyric. And my unicorn fanny pack full of treats. It started off good. She wasn't nervous and only pooped once. She got her front feet on pretty immediately and would almost get a hind foot on the ramp. She kept slamming her foot on the ramp but wouldn't actually stand on it. I started rewarding anything, but then got a bit more picky. She finally got both hind feet on the ramp and got a good cookie and some hay. Then it was like she realized the hay net was there. She walked all the way on and started munching. Good girl!!!! I let her sit calmly and munch for a good 5 minutes or so, and then I backed her off. She got off calmly and then I asked her to get back on and she went right in. Yay! We hung out while she munched for another 5-10 minutes or so. Then I backed her off and she almost acted like she wanted back on while I was trying to get Dan off. Ha ha.. Good girl! Maybe now we can start doing some adventures. And... I know... she isn't getting on by her own. But I'll deal with that part soon. I figured that perhaps a bunch of fun rides WITH Dan first may help convince her that it's okay to get on by herself too later.

Ha ha... Her faces!!!

So then I took her into the round pen and we did a bit of pillar work. She's maybe getting the hang of releasing to contact, but... then maybe not. It's hard to tell. Sometimes she just tunes me out. But so does Dan, so... ;) ? We also did a tiny bit of lunging at the walk and she seemed more relaxed in the neck again. So yay!

I called it quits after that. Good girl! I'm debating taking her to Ashland tomorrow with Dan if I can get her on the trailer. It's hard though because... I'd also really like to ride Dan in the arena, but I can't with her. Not yet, so... We'll see.
