Well, not new. Stolen from her sister. ;) Ha ha. And her brother. So... the bit Dan and I have been borrowing from Kelli is really too big for him. Kelli mentioned that she was hoping it would fit because she could sell it to me super cheap as she shouldn't have bought one that big. I mentioned that it might fit Lyric because she has a potato head like Fleck. But then this morning her and Dan were snuggling and her muzzle actually looked smaller than his, so... But I tried it on this evening and.. it actaully looks like it fits pretty perfectly. So, she may get to have her own bit. But she also looked pretty snazzy in Funny's pink brownband and Dan's brown bridle. :)
I haven't done much with her this week because I had taken Dan to Ashland so much. And because.. quite frankly... I'm frustrated. I'm sad. I don't know what to do next. So... I've just kind of not done much. But I figured today I could do something. I was tempted to ride. And probably should have. I definitely could have. Stupid weather was not what they were predicting, but it was still cool and misty and windy. Maybe not the best 4th ride weather. Although I'm not sure she would have really cared or been stupid. But I think I needed an easy day of rest. But before dinner I decided to do a little work in the roundpen with her. The wind was whipping. 14 mph winds! And it was warm, but chilly with the wind. I put the bridle on to test out the bit and then we headed to the roundpen. My thought was to maybe teach her to target the flag so that I could maybe guide her to lower head in the trot, but... the wind was flinging the flag around so much. Bless her for not freaking out just walking to the round pen! But she was googley eyed, so... I decided to drop the flag and deal with that another day.
So we just did our pillar work. She seems to maybe be realizing that when I put slight pressure on the reins, to soften her head. Yay!!! Relationship to contact! Except now I'm freaking out that I'm going to teach her to avoid the contact, but... I suppose I'm just giving her a better relationship. Softening to it is a much better response than hanging on it. I hope anyways. I hope I'm not screwing up. We also did our pillar 1 walks... some pillar 2 and pillar 3's. I swear, my horses are so smart. They are starting to offer pillar 3 before I even ask. Good ponies. We also trotted a tiny bit but she wasn't really softening and it's hard to apply soft rein pressure while running next to her, so.. we quit. Good girl! She's also starting to figure out how to eat alfalfa pellets with a bit in her mouth. Hee hee. But she's almost as slimy as Dan!
