Winter Music

  Today was a good day! I got up at 5:30 am to be ready to ride in a lesson at 7:30 at Ashland to try to beat the heat. Sadly Jacel had to cancel but since I was about to load up I figured I might as well go ride. I met Laura (as we were supposed to have a lesson together anyways) and Smarty and we had a good ride regardless. But it was still freakin' hot! Poor Lyric was damp all over. Me too! It's just so humid!   Anyways... It took me about 10 minutes to get Lyric on the trailer this morning. Um... .ma'am! The trailer is in the correct spot! Remember our deal?! She did get on after a little bit of encouragement. I'm guessing it'll get better again once we start doing it more again. We got tacked up and then headed up to the arena right as Laura was heading up. We warmed up on the flat and while Lyric felt a bit wonky the first few minutes she settled out of it nicely.  What a good girl! Rode her this morning after her having 2 weeks off (Ireland!!!!) and she was a very good girl. A bit more braced than recently but she settled by the end and we had some nice moments. Canters were pretty nice even and a really good upward. Not lame but weak at times. Had a great stretchy trot at the end. good girl! But sooo hot

 Glorious weather this am! Didn't load because the trailer was in a new spot. Finally gave up and moved it and she loaded right up.Weirdo! hacked at ashland first. solo. Went right up to and through the creek (Wiggled through it, but did it). The big creek too! Saw a bunch of deer. trotted a few logs. Walked the ditch and the up bank.  then did some dressage with kelli. A bit tense at the beginning but kelli was having a bad day so.. maybe her vibe? maybe just back at ashland. Got her settled and had a good ride. a bit stiff tracking left again but... got her loose and happy. got some nice work!! then hacked to lake. cantered a bit to the lake in the field. She took some convincing to go in but did go in and splash a bit. good girl!

 Rode with Kelli and Marvin at the house. tiny bit of lengthen good transitions down from canter... a few good ones into canter. MUCH better overall and consistently.  weak behind... still a little worried there's something going on. videos and photos

 Very good girl today. Even up at the arena by herself for most of the ride.  Did our homework and got some really nice work, especially at the end. Good even rein connection, soft.. even got more of a right rein connection today. Ride to the light, give to the heavy. Did our circles. Focused on my body position. Good girl. Hacked home. Baby deer spooked us but not as bad as last time. Got her feet done this am and did pull back and break cross ties. Seemed unhappy with left front extended. Will have to check later
