Another Good Ride

Image
Rode with Kelli and Marvin at the house. tiny bit of lengthen good transitions down from canter... a few good ones into canter. MUCH better overall and consistently.  weak behind... still a little worried there's something going on. videos and photos

Super Ride

Very good girl today. Even up at the arena by herself for most of the ride.  Did our homework and got some really nice work, especially at the end. Good even rein connection, soft.. even got more of a right rein connection today. Ride to the light, give to the heavy. Did our circles. Focused on my body position. Good girl. Hacked home. Baby deer spooked us but not as bad as last time. Got her feet done this am and did pull back and break cross ties. Seemed unhappy with left front extended. Will have to check later

Bonus Lesson

Whoo hoo!! We got a bonus lesson today! We ended up doing lessons at the house because Courtney had to cancel so it was just me and Jean's interns. So yay! I did Funny first at 8:30 and then grabbed Lyric for a ride. My friend Lisa was coming to visit from Washington but wasn't going to get there til 11:30, so I figured since I wasn't hauling home from Ashland, I had time. So I grabbed her and luckily, they were all back near the stalls and she let me catch her! This morning when I went to get Funny she ran from me. Well, walked fast from me. ;) But.. that meant no cookies missy! So I was glad that she actually walked up to me when it was her turn. I even still had my helmet on. Of course once I gave her the cookie she started to walk away but she didn't fuss when I snagged her.  We tacked up and walked up to the arena where the interns were still getting their lesson. As we walked into the arena a truck pulled up next to it and Jacel mentioned that apparently they were...

Good little sister

She was worried about Dan. Me too! Before I started the camera she was practically pawing him and sniffing him. He's good baby girl, he's good

dressage lesson

in the jump saddle too hot to ride after the show yesterday lesson at the covered today. yay So proud.... Red Fraggle loaded right up... it's been like... 2 plus months! Then hacked politely and bravely by herself from trailer parking to covered. had a great lesson send her forward... her tempo gets a hair slower and while it's not that much slower.. you can feel the loss of impulsion and engagement. When I cluck and she picks it up, she gets more energetic and round and lifts her back. :)  ride the shoulders... she has "Left shoulderitis" and is always dumping on that.. hence the heavy on the left rein. So ride with my hands to the right. But don't drop the rein... keep the connection. Give her someplace to move her right shoulder but she has to have connection to know to go there.  played with trot to halt to walk to trot. encouraging straightness and engagement.  a few funky steps but felt more like weakness and crookedness vs lameness, but will keep an eye on...
