Winter Music

The last day of the year. Goodbye 2022. And... kind of Good Riddance. Lyric might be about the only good thing that happened this year.    Anyways.. we didn't do anything special today. I'm still blue about Dan. And Mike and I didn't make any fun plans because... quite frankly, I don't have it in me, but also because I wasn't sure how she would do with the fireworks. I knew the others would be fine as they have been before. But I had no idea how she would do.    So we spent the day at home and I was able to work ponies. Lyric and I did our pillar walks in the arena. She's so smart and does pillar 3 now almost every time we stop and I start to even think about asking (and often when I don't ask). And she walked through the puddle and then stopped and drank. She's so funny. She uses her lower lip like a shovel and flaps the water up into her mouth before she drinks like a normal horse. It's hibernation time... time to rest... relax... refuel... Especially now. Between the whirlwind and stress of taking Dan to the beach... then rushing home and turning around and taking Dan to the vet appt. Then rushing home to beat the weather. Then the big freeze hit and we had to deal with no water and busted water lines over Christmas. And add in Christmas Eve festivities with family, while I'm already drained from the vet appt.... I had nothing left. And Lyric had lost her right hind shoe while I was either at the beach or at the vet appt... and then the mud froze into ruts and pits. So she was sore. I'm sure from walking on the icy caverns. And thus, with no life energy, being depressed, and... just bleh... we chose to embrace that no mans land time between Christmas and New Years. I didn't work Monday because of the pipes.. had tuesday off still... then worked a half day Wednesday... and then a half day Thursday making up for Monday.. So we just have been chilli

 And... not much fun Cold snap... not above freezing for a few days.. busy with dan and the vet visit before the cold snap. frozen water lines... busted pipes.... windy.... too cold to do anything...  lost shoe... sore foot from frozen muddy ruts

 #teammolasses #teamtortoise Rode at home. Tacked up at the trailer. calm and relaxed mostly did a few minutes of pillar work Rode - good smart girl. Getting the hang of it. Kind of. Steering improved. stopping and going improved. Even canter improved. swapped diagonals on the left lead and it got better. Maybe getting a clue about contact.. but a lot of that is on me.  then rode in the field... has a bug on her belly and almost turned herself inside out. settled.. started again, so got off to check. must have been a bug. got back on at the jump in the field. trotted a little  untacked at the trailer again
